What is computer maintenance?
Computer maintenance consists of ensuring the proper functioning of a company’s information system and computer equipment.
We intervene at three levels of maintenance, namely:
- preventive maintenance;
- corrective or curative maintenance;
- evolutionary maintenance.
Preventive maintenance
For a company, the most responsible solution is preventive maintenance: it consists in anticipating the problems encountered by the computer system by maintaining it correctly. However, this anticipatory approach is sometimes not enough. Indeed, even with the best will in the world, it is sometimes impossible to prevent a system failure. This is where corrective computer maintenance (sometimes called “curative”) comes into play.
Corrective maintenance
Corrective maintenance is a good solution when you encounter a minor and occasional problem, but it cannot be used as a solution for everything! In order to anticipate problems, it is better to resort to preventive maintenance, which will, in the long term, save time and money.
Corrective computer maintenance is most often used for problems that occasionally hinder the proper functioning of computer tools. We are talking about level 2 IT support. In the event of level 3, i.e. in the event of partial or generalized malfunction of the computer system, the corrective solution is a bit light. In this case, you must have a general audit of your system carried out by an external outsourcing company.
Evolutionary Maintenance
By "scalable", we mean the maintenance measures aimed at developing or adapting one or more applications, in order to integrate new functions, improve their operation or take into account new legislative or regulatory provisions.
Possibility of remote maintenance intervention
For superficial problems, we can offer you our remote maintenance services by:
- telephone,
- E-mail,
- email…
However, if the problem persists, or if it is more critical, we can consider a trip for so-called “on-site” maintenance. This type of maintenance is often necessary for damage that concerns the physical equipment.
N.B: Acting in reaction rather than in anticipation will end up wasting your company’s time and money. We talk about immediate (repair) or deferred (troubleshooting) corrective maintenance.
